Skandi Hawk

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

Enjoyed my time on Skandi Hawk; nice ship and interesting work!

Crane hook stays in the same place relative to the sea bed even when the ships moves.

Heave compensating crane

Computers sense ships movement (heave/roll/pitch) and automatically adjust the winch in and out so crane hook stays in the same place relative to the seabed 1000 feet down below us

Engine Control Room - no dirty engineers allowed in here !

ROV manipulators and cameras

ROV control room - great job !!

Hard at work, in DP

Christmas lunch

Shows us sitting above pipelines, control lines and 2 ROV umbilicals on the seabed

In DP cleaning our own hull in Balikpapan before entering Oz. Restricted in ability to manoeuvre lights/safe side

Contra-rotating propellers - one five bladed, one four bladed. Azimuth pod rotates 360 degrees.

In dry dock for a 'haircut and shave'. Singapore

Drop-down Azimuth thruster

Singapore - the side that tourists don't see !!

Load testing crane with water bags, in Darwin

You made that - Robert Wood !

Our beautiful daughter Crystal, a Sub-sea Installation Engineer

Crystal also worked on Skandi Hawk ! (But I wasn't there at the same time - bummer)
